Tobergal Lane Cafe has just announced an exciting new events program including traditional Irish concerts being held every Saturday at 10pm. Each week top musicians from the area will by congregating to perform. The concerts are open to everyone and all musicians are welcome to come along and join in. Tobergal Lane Cafe occupies an excellent position in the centre of Sligo town, between the Gavavogue River and O’Connell street on the pedestrian area of Tobergal Lane.
Inside the cafe is split into two distinct parts. Upstairs is the first floor, which is used for functions and to host the traditional music concerts, whilst downstairs is a bistro style cafe - restaurant. The Cafe is famed for is patisserie, which its Bakers work throughout the night to produce. Lunchtime menus are changed daily and there is also a variety of specials on offer to entice hungry visitors. The dishes use local ingredients such as Arctic char which is farmed nearby and a variety of local cheeses. There is a strong emphasis on cooking fresh seasonal produce. All diners are catered for adequately with vegetarian and gluten free options available.
The Tobergal lane Cafe has already won over the hearts of the local residents in Sligo and was awarded the Good Cooking Award at the 2008 Food and Wine/Edward Dillon Awards. An excellent Saturday night out would be to combine dinner in the cafe with the concert afterwards. A real opportunity to taste good locally supplied food with traditional Irish music.

County Sligo has some of the most beautiful scenery in Ireland and provided a huge source of inspiration for the poet Yeats, who is buried in Drumcliffe Churchyard. The landscape is rugged interspersed with still lakes and wooded islands.
There is lots of history to be found, such as the largest Megalithic cemetery in Ireland. For those who want a little more adventure and activity Co. Sligo offers a great range of activities including golfing, horse riding, cycling, walking, fishing and a variety of water sports. If you want to hit the beach then Sligo’s coast has some excellent beaches which are very popular with surfers. For families Lissadell House, which was once the home to Countee Markievicz provides interesting viewing and is situated close to a lovely beach. Getting to Sligo could not be easier if you hire a car as the roads are clearly marked and easy to navigate. There are a number of car hire companies in Ireland who would be available to advise you on the best options.
